I studied with Professor Shelley for two semesters, and the scope of what I learned under her tutelage has greatly impacted my craft.  Literally, a week doesn't go by that I am not reminded of and able to apply some of the techniques I learned while studying with her.

She is one of those rare individuals with an infectious enthusiasm for her subject and a skill set to match her passion. In class, she introduced us to writers I had never heard of, illustrated how and why their different styles were effective and had us do exercises that incorporated those styles.  These exercises proved invaluable to me.

Her feedback on written assignments was always on point….  She made a lot of nonprofessional writers who didn't have all that much at stake really care about the craft and to take pride in our work. The impact she has had on her students is huge.
